My Story
My Journey of Resilience: From Struggles to Resilience.
I was born to two young parents still in high school, who were unprepared for the challenges of raising a child. After my mother’s failed attempt to terminate the pregnancy, she made a desperate decision to lock me alone and hungry in a house surrounded by poisonous plants. My cries eventually caught the attention of neighbors who called my grandparents, breaking in just in time to save me from near death.
That was the second time I narrowly escaped death by the age of two. Sadly, it was also the last time I would see my biological parents. My grandparents, humble farmers, took me in and provided me with a stable home. Though they weren’t wealthy, they ensured we never went hungry. I went to school, exchanging food for education, but when it came time for college, I faced insurmountable costs that no amount of bartering could cover.
Hopeless and with dreams shattered, I found myself on the streets, where the grim realities of drugs and sex trafficking loomed. At a crossroads, I had to choose between succumbing to a life of exploitation or embodying resilience and integrity. I chose the latter, enduring hunger, sleeping on the floor, and surviving on less than a dollar a day to save money for my education. I worked tirelessly through college, determined to turn my dreams into reality.
Today, I stand as a testament to resilience, having transitioned from the streets of a third-world country to becoming an entrepreneur in the United States—the world’s leading economy. Through my journey, I found that the most fitting word to encapsulate my story was RESILIENCE.
Resilience Shoes was born from my desire to inspire others who face similar challenges. Our shoes are more than just fashion, they symbolize the journeys, struggles, battles, and triumphs of every individual. “Putting on one’s shoes” means stepping into another person’s life and understanding their journey.
While my journey is still ongoing, my goals and dreams are within reach. I am committed to uplifting humanity, providing job opportunities to the less fortunate.
